Top 5 Places I Want to Travel Next

“Where do you want to travel next?” is probably one of the most asked questions on Instagram. So many bloggers and grammers are currently (somewhat forced by Covid) posting throwbacks to places they’ve been and things they’ve seen. Even though this question is corny, I wanted to share where I want to travel next. But keep in mind this is my list for the next 3 years, as let’s face it: I don’t have the funds or vacation time to jet-set the way I wish I could!

I want to travel to so many places, that it would probably be easier to list the places I don’t have an interest in traveling to. I’ve created this shortlist to share the next 5 places I want to visit and I want to shed a little light on why these places are on my list. Here they are:

  1. Estonia
  2. Slovakia
  3. Portugal
  4. Poland
  5. Scotland

Estonia

I have been dying to travel to Estonia for a while now. It all started when I came across an article by someone who was writing about what it was like to move there. Once I started researching more about Estonia I became obsessed! Three cities I want to visit include: Tallinn (the capitol city), Pärnu, and Tartu.

Did you know the world’s oldest continuously run pharmacy is in Tallinn?! Or that there are medieval tunnels under the old town that you can take a tour of? Estonia was also part of the USSR and as a result, has all of these cold war era bunkers that have been transitioned into theaters and museums!

Estonia is also a hub for startups and offers a Startup Visa for those looking to immigrate. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a creative way to boost an country’s economy. I can’t wait to visit Estonia and learn more about this amazing country!

Slovakia

While growing my Instagram for Creative and Ambitious I made an online friend from Slovakia! It is so cool that I can make friends thousands of miles away that have the same interests as me! My friend sent me some awesome recommendations for the capitol city of Bratislava. One recommendation included the best place to grab a bite to eat and I cannot wait to try it! Her photos are absolutely stunning and I can’t wait to explore Slovakia for myself! Check out her Instagram @photos.aroundthe_world

Slovakia is also a relatively cheap place in Europe to visit. It offers quaint country sides, lively cities, and great places to ski. At least that’s what I’ve heard. I don’t ski but I do love mountains! I’m always excited about exploring a new country and the more unknown they are to me the better! Part of what I love about traveling is the research and the discovery of new places!

Portugal

I started looking into Portugal after our much enjoyed trip to Barcelona. We are always looking for new places to adventure and the cliffs on the edge of Portugal look breathtaking! I also am intrigued by the different foods to try. We would love to see Lisbon and Porto when we visit!

When I was growing up, I watched a Rick Steve’s travel episode about Lisbon and I’ll never forget when my mom said “maybe we could go there someday.” That single phrase turned somewhere far away into a possibility ❤️ I’ll never forget how mesmerized I was about the thought of exploring Lisbon. I’ve also been obsessed with Rick Steve’s books, videos, and podcasts ever since!

Poland

Poland has been on my radar for a couple years now and it’s definitely high ranking on my list! As a country, Poland has so much history surrounding the world wars and the iron curtain. If you know me, you know I am obsessed with learning about cold war history and communism. I love being able to see the resilience of people and communities after the terrors they faced during past occupations. There is just something about a bustling city that is growing from inspiration and innovation.

Anyways, back to Poland. There are so many places I want to see. Some of them are: Krakow, Warsaw, Gdansk, and the concentration camp: Auschwitz. My boyfriend, Dillon, has very Polish heritage and I would love to travel there with him. Some people may view Poland as a dark place to travel but it’s not all sad and learning our world history is so important.

Scotland

During my time abroad, I spent most of my time in Scotland as that was where I was studying. But no matter how much time I spend in Scotland I don’t think it could ever be enough time. I am hoping to travel back soon to meet up with some friends and show Dillon more of Scotland. One thing I love doing is going on highland tours! The mini tour buses really make the rugged highland scenery accessible to the international traveler.
