Sustainable Travel Essentials

In this section, you’ll find travel essentials for the sustainably-minded traveler. By choosing high-quality and sustainable products, you can make your items last longer and reduce waste. I’ve highlighted some of my travel essentials below that come with me on every trip!

Away Suitcase with Battery Pack

I was gifted my pretty pastel pink Away suitcase this past July for my birthday. Prior to that, it had been my dream suitcase for about 2 years. This suitcase is definitely an investment at $225 but it’s an amazing suitcase. I have the carry-on size with the battery pack that allows you to charge your phone on the go. The battery pack is also removable and can be used separately wherever you want to take it with you which has come in handy so much so far.

During my most recent two-week trip to Europe, I was able to fit 10 complete outfits in only one side of my suitcase which left plenty of room on the remaining side for the COVID tests we had to pack, extra shoes, toiletries, and of course souvenirs on the way home. I was able to pack like this thanks to the amazing compression technology that saves so much space while packing!

Ocean Bottle

If you’re looking to support a company that makes a big difference by preventing plastic from entering the ocean and improving the lives of thousands of people living in coastal communities around the world, you should support Ocean Bottle. Ocean Bottle has worked to set up programs in these communities, that reward people for collecting plastics with things like groceries, health care, sanitary items, and so much more.

I got my Ocean Bottle over a year ago and I have used it so much! My Ocean Bottle goes everywhere with me. I have the original sized sky blue ocean bottle. It’s the perfect size and I love that it’s dishwasher safe. So many other sustainable products are only handwash, so I was extremely happy with this find. I use my bottle for cold drinks in the summer and hot drinks in the winter! The Ocean Bottle is $50 and is available in 6 colors.

Pela Sunglasses

I have been a Pela lover for a while now. It started with their compostable phone cases and now I’ve become obsessed with their sunglasses! All of the products pela offers are extremely sustainable. I got my sunglasses about 6 months ago. Honestly, I love the quality and they are made with 82% less waste than traditional sunglasses brands. I don’t understand how they made something incredibly beautiful and sustainable at the same time.

Before this pair of sunglasses, I used to buy at least a pair every summer when my previous cheap pair would inevitably break. So far there is no break in sight with these! The arms of the glasses are nice and thick so I haven’t been worried about them breaking off or bending and sitting awkwardly on my face. Pela sunglasses start at $64.95.

Tangle Teezer

This brush is everything you need for windy city breaks! The tangle teezer tames your hair and makes crazy travel hair look so much better. It’s also great for packing as you can also store things inside this brush! I keep all my hair ties and bobby pins in here and I love how much space I save when packing compared to a full-size brush. This is the only brush I use on tangled hair from outdoor adventures. Plus mine is pink so you know I love it!

Sustainable Self-Care

Finding sustainable self-care items is a little bit of an obsession of mine. I love finding products that make me feel good not only from using the product, but also about the brand I’m supporting. Below, I’ve listed some of the amazing self-care products I’ve found and really enjoy using.

Zomchi Safety Razor

Of all these gift ideas for eco-conscious travelers, I can’t recommend this one enough! Safety razors are a sustainable bathroom staple. With a safety razor, you could reduce the waste of up to 15 disposable razors per year. They are made of stainless steel, so they are high-quality and last for a really long time. Plus, I get such a close shave that leaves my legs feeling super smooth.

I am obsessed with my rose gold safety razor from Zomchi Zero Waste. I love that they offer such a great product while keeping the price affordable. Zomchi makes sustainable living more accessible. I’ve had my safety razor for over a year and I will never go back to disposable razors. Zomchi safety razors start at $19.99.

Diphy Wellness Lotion Bars

I found Diphy Wellness last year from their amazing social media content. I fell in love with the brand and the products. Since then, Diphy Wellness released a line of lotion bars that I’m so excited to share with you! These lotion bars are homemade and come in plastic-free packaging. They are really hydrating, especially in the winter season!

Scents available include peppermint, coconut, eucalyptus, and naked. I ordered the peppermint and the coconut lotion bars to test out. I cannot rave about the coconut scent enough. It’s bright, tropical, and summery; and it’s going to get me through the rest of this winter!

These lotion bars are incredible and Diphy Wellness has other products to help you with gift ideas for eco-conscious travelers too! To support Diphy Wellness, click on the link below to shop!

Papr Cosmetics

Papr deodorant is an eco-friendly deodorant with natural fresh scents. They come in paper tubes and are $15.99 each. They make great gifts for sustainable product lovers! I’m currently using the pink grapefruit tube and have been loving the texture, performance, and packaging. I have tried other deodorants in paper tubes that were very messy to use. So far, this is the best tube design I have come across!

Bamboo Tooth Brushes

I’ve found that not all bamboo toothbrushes are made equal. Some I’ve used are really nice and you can’t even tell it’s not a plastic toothbrush. While others have been a little dangerous with slivers of bamboo sticking out on the toothbrush. I hope this hasn’t happened to anyone reading this and it’s definitely not something you want to experience.

I do recommend bamboo toothbrushes as bamboo is far more sustainable and more renewable than other materials that toothbrushes are made of. To give you my best recommendation, I’ve linked the brand of bamboo toothbrushes I use. I was actually gifted these by my mom last year and it’s been so nice to have a pack at home so I’m not running out when I go to change my brush. I haven’t found any slivers sticking out of brushes with this brand and would recommend them!

That’s all for now!

I only recommend products I own and have tried. All of these products are my sustainable and travel favorites. I can’t recommend them enough and I hope you found some favorites too! Or at least some gift ideas for friends or family members. Thanks for stopping by!
