Welcome to the Creative and Ambitious blog! This blog contains articles about travel, life, sustainability, and creativity.
My Journey
At the age of 22, I started this blog to focus on what I wanted in life. After studying in Scotland for a year and returning home to Wisconsin, I just felt lost. I had finally adjusted to living in Scotland and it was time for me to leave.
Studying in Scotland had always been a lofty dream of mine. But after working three jobs, saving everything I could, and student loans, I made it a reality. Studying abroad was an amazing experience and I am forever grateful I was able to go. I was able to travel to places I never thought I’d see! I saw: the Colosseum, the Eiffel Tower, the canals of Venice, the beach in Barcelona, the Scottish Highlands, and the London Eye. For one year, the world was open to me.
Home Again
After traveling back home, to Wisconsin, I found it extremely hard to adjust back to life before I left. Not because it was foreign or unfamiliar but because I didn’t want to lose the person I had become. The person traveling and doing things I never thought were possible for me.
After a few rough months of not feeling like myself and a lot of soul-searching, I realized something. I realized I could achieve anything I wanted if I focused and worked as hard as I did to get to Scotland. That determination and focus are what got me there. If the rest of my life was that focused I could accomplish anything I wanted to. That was the start of this blog.
Making Better Choices
Along my journey of adjusting to life back at home, I found comfort in making sustainable life choices. All of a sudden every choice I was making was meaningful and intentional. After a hard few months of loss and guilt, (of missing my new home rather than my actual home) I felt by making sustainable decisions I had better control of my life. Every decision I made was for a better future. Not just for me but for the earth and for nature. Nature that calms me, gives me perspective and inspires me.
My Inspiration
I firmly believe that whatever journey you’re on in life, you are meant to be there and you are on that journey for a reason. If I had never gone to Scotland I wouldn’t be writing this today. Taking the leap to follow my dream of studying in Scotland was how I came to find who I am today. Once you get a taste of living your dreams, it’s awfully hard to turn back to where you were before. But maybe it’s because we aren’t supposed to go back.
So here is me moving forward. Writing about my passions, finding what makes me feel whole, and living a life I will be proud of in 50 years.
